The Ask Dr. Renee Show with Antonia Saint Dunbar

The focus of Antonia’s companies are on providing innovative solutions for women, and sustainable alternatives for the planet. With THINX, Inc., she created performance underwear, activewear and other reusable feminine care items, and with Antonia Saint NY, she makes hi-tech, customized-fit heels and flats that last longer, and feel soft like sneakers on the inside.
Antonia first began her entrepreneurial journey by writing the patent and leading the design of the premier products at THINX that were later named one of TIME Magazine’s “Top 25 Inventions,” setting the foundation for $60M+ in revenue, with Kimberly-Clark as their new partner to take the brand global as of 2019. She was the Chief Operations Officer for many years, and helped to secure a long-term strategic partnership with Nike’s #1 supplier, while the company went on to be named one of Fast Company’s “Top 50 Most Innovative Companies”, Entrepreneur’s “Top 100 Most Brilliant Companies,” CNBC’s “Top 50 Disruptors,” and #37 on Inc.’s “5000 Fastest Growing Companies.”
One of Women 2.0’s list of “Top Founders to Watch,” Antonia is now focused on disrupting the $28 Billion Dollar U.S. women’s shoe industry, with 12 patents, thousands of fit data points, and a worldwide community for Antonia Saint NY. A market test of Version 1.0 of her shoes hit $2.1Million in pre-orders within 90 days, and in 2020 she will officially launch the DTC brand widely with her third-ever style including Version 2.0 of the technology and design, to premiere at Showfield’s in the heart of Soho, NYC.
Good design was part of her upbringing in a creative family, where her Industrial Designer father influenced her greatly, but her career path didn’t always have this focus. Instead, she first earned a Communications degree from Northwestern University where she also studied music as a classical cellist before going into public relations and advertising.
She now lives in New York with her two young daughters and her husband, a biotech investor on Wall Street, who was the first CFO and seed investor at THINX, and her Co-Founder and CFO for Antonia Saint NY.
