Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day!! What is that you say?

Menstrual Hygiene Day

I am sure you saw the title and said WHAT? WHAT IS THAT? Well Menstrual Hygiene Day is a global advocacy platform that brings together the voices and actions of non-profits, government agencies, individuals, the private sector and the media to promote good menstrual hygiene management (MHM) for all women and girls.

More specifically, MH Day:

  • breaks the silence, raises awareness and changes negative social norms around MHM, and
  • engages decision-makers to increase the political priority and catalyse action for MHM, at global, national and local levels.

This is a problem all over the world. There are menstruating people who do not have the money to have proper menstrual hygiene. I learned about Period Poverty when I became a Thinx Leader.  Anyone that purchases Thinx with my link receives $10 OFF but they can opt to save $8 on their Thinx and DONATE $2 to Period Products for a person in need.

My colleague Dr. Cindy Duke also celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day on her blog today as well. You can read her article here .

As of March 2020 with the passage of the CARES Act, menstrual care products like tampons and pads are fully FSA-/HSA-eligible. According to the text of the bill, menstrual care products include, “tampon, pad, liner, cup, sponge, or similar product used by individuals with respect to menstruation.

Now when you purchase Thinx they can be purchased via FSA/HSA. This is a HUGE win for US!!!
